Fitness Orientations
Confused by all
the fitness equipment? Need help with your workout? Sign up for 3 FREE
(members only) fitness orientations! All fitness orientations are given by
certified personal trainers who will show you the proper way to use the
equipment and guide you towards the best exercises to achieve your fitness
goals. Fitness orientations are by appointment and may include nautilus,
cardio or free weight equipment. See the front desk for details.
PERSONAL TRAINING Our primary goal is to develop a
program that meets your needs. Our job is to help you achieve your goal
safely and to help guide you to a healthier lifestyle. Areas of training to
choose from include resistance training, aerobic training, Yoga/Pilates,
and sports specific conditioning. Our services include individual
direction, health risk analysis, fitness evaluations and supervised
workouts. We offer the latest in fitness concepts for all levels of
fitness. Personal trainers can make a difference in the success of your
fitness program.

MASSAGE
CENTER The Bristol Family YMCA is pleased to announce the
opening of our new Massage Center. State of the art massage tables, new
oils, and seated massage. Flowing water fountains, candles and a surround
sound stereo system will enhance your massage experience.

GROUP FITNESS CLASSES
Over 40 group exercise
classes are offered on a weekly basis. All group exercise classes are free
to YMCA members. A monthly calendar
available at front desk.
Class
Descriptions
Intro Classes: 20-30
minute introductory classes explaining what you need to know to take each
class.
Hi/Low Sculpt: Hi NRG class with Hi/Low combos, stretching and
toning. Class is structured on the floor. No step.
Rep Reebok: 55 minute strength training class using straight bars, dumbbells,
etc. No previous experience necessary.
Interval Challenge: Structured Hi/Low intervals using the step (may
include using weights or tubes).
Move & Groove: An early morning wake-up call to start your day
out right. This Hi NRG step class will surely wake you up.
Pilates: Great for any fitness level. A safe, effective and
progressive way to build strength, endurance and increase flexibility. The
postures and breathing techniques help reduce stress and facilitate
relaxation
.
Cycling: Hi NRG class using a stationary bicycles to give an
effective cardio workout.
Cycle, Core/Stretch: 1 hour stationary bike class that involves a
20-35 minute ride followed by intense core work and stretching.
Step Challenge: This class will challenge even the fittest
individual. Excellent calorie burner.
Beginner Yoga: Basic yoga practice involving alignment, awareness of
breath, strength, balance and relaxation.
Step & Sculpt: 11/2 hour class involving Step choreography
followed by strength training.
Yoga/Pilates: 1 hour fusion of yoga and Pilates movements.
Super Sculpt: This class involves intermediate/advanced strength
training techniques. Previous experience preferred.
SilverSneakers: Designed for 65+ and/or with
limited mobility
GROUP WATER EXERCISE CLASSES

Descriptions
Deep Water Aerobics - An aerobic workout in deep water using jog
belts. The focus is on cardio, toning and endurance.
Aqualite - An aerobic workout (cardiovascular), low impact with
emphasis on toning and stretching.
AFYAP - A water stretching and range of motion class, it offers no
cardiovascular workout; this is in conjunction with the Arthritis
Foundation.
