Benefits of Starting an Active Lifestyle Today
Physical activity includes anything that gets your body moving, like gardening, walking your dog, or taking the stairs. Exercise is a planned, structured activity such as weight training, stretching, or aerobics. Including both will help you feel stronger, healthier, and more energized as you age.
- Reduces risk of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and certain cancers.
- Helps reduce pain and stiffness — keep moving!
- Improves strength, flexibility, and balance.
- Supports stress management and boosts your mood.
- Leads to a better quality of life overall!

Water Exercise
Come on in, the water’s fine! Adults looking to challenge themselves without stress on their joints or members who just enjoy the water can take advantage of our different water exercise classes. Instructors lead small groups through water aerobics, core strengthening and much more. You will gain muscle conditioning and cardiovascular endurance from the aerobic choreography and the resistance of the water. It is ideal for all fitness levels & non-swimmers. Water Exercise classes are FREE for Y members!

Volunteer Opportunities
Give back by helping others thrive! Volunteer in areas like youth mentorship, athletics, aquatics, or maintenance. Use your time and talents to strengthen the community while connecting with others. At the YMCA, we’re dedicated to the health and wellness of our seniors through programs for the spirit, mind, and body. Whether through fitness, aquatic classes, or community events, you’ll find opportunities for growth, friendship, and fun. Most senior programs are free for Y members. Check the Aquatic and Aerobic schedules for details.
